My Favorite Multitool

Over the past few years, I’ve tried out a ton of multi-tools. For the longest time, my setup was carrying both a multi-tool and a separate knife. It worked fine, but let’s be real—carrying extra gear can get old fast, especially when you’re trying to keep things simple.

Last year, I decided to streamline and went all in on the Leatherman ARC. Spending $230 on a multi-tool wasn’t an easy call—it’s definitely on the pricier side—but honestly, it’s been worth every penny. The quality, versatility, and convenience I’ve gotten out of it far outweigh the initial cost.

I still occasionally carry a fixed blade if I know I’ll need it, but for everyday use, the ARC is more than enough. I use it constantly—whether it’s cutting straws to the right size for my kids’ cups, fixing little things around the house, or even tackling bigger projects like taking apart the car dashboard to repair the AC motor. Pairing it with the bit kit makes it even better, expanding what it can do without adding much bulk.

Now, if I could change a few things:

• I’d love a partially serrated blade for more versatility.

• I never use the file—it just doesn’t fit my needs, and I’d swap it for something else.

• The pocket clip has started loosening up recently, which can be a bit annoying.

That said, I really can’t complain too much. The Leatherman ARC has been an amazing tool for me. It’s built like a tank, handles everything I throw at it, and feels like it’s going to last a lifetime. For anyone looking to simplify their EDC without sacrificing functionality, I’d highly recommend it. Sure, it’s an investment, but it’s one of those rare purchases that truly pays off over time. I’m beyond happy with it.
